five-port power splitter based on pillar photonic crystal
Authors
abstract
designing a power splitter with five ports has been shown in this article. in order to prevent the direct coupling between waveguides, a t-shaped structure with an appropriate distance has been used. the coupling between the parallel photonic crystal waveguides is based on multimode interference, while selecting the output efficiency is performed by setting the refractive coefficients and radius of cavities in the coupling area. the photonic crystal of the splitter has a square-shaped structure made of silicon rods with lattice constant “a”, radius of 0.2a and linear refractive index of n=3.4. the filling factor of this structure is r/a=0.18. characteristic curve of the power splitter has been simulated by means of finite difference time domain (fdtd) method. the present device can be used in the future photonic integrated circuits and optical network applications.

Here, we propose an optical filter and an optical power splitter based on two-dimensionalphotonic crystal all circular ring resonators. First, we have designed the filter and by using that, we designed a power splitter. Thetransmission efficiency and Qua...

full textDesign of Photonic Crystal Polarization Splitter on InP Substrate
In this article, we suggested a novel design of polarization splitter based on coupler waveguide on InP substrate at 1.55mm wavelength. Photonic crystal structure is consisted of two dimensional (2D) air holes embedded in InP/InGaAsP material with an effective refractive index of 3.2634 which is arranged in a hexagonal lattice. The photonic band gap (PBG) of this structure is determined using t...
full textDesign of a High-Bandwidth Y-Shaped Photonic Crystal Power Splitter for TE Modes
In this paper, a Y-shaped power splitter based on a two dimensional photonic crystal (PhC) for TE modes is designed and optimized. A triangular lattice of air holes is used for Y-shaped power divider. For analyzing these structures, plane wave expansion (PWE) and finite difference time domain (FDTD) methods are used. The simulation results show that more than 98% of the input power is transmitt...

A compact 1x3 power splitter based on Photonic Crystal Waveguides (PCW) with flexible power splitting ratio is presented in this paper. Multimode interference coupler (MMI) is integrated with PCW. The device size reduction compared with the conventional MMI power splitter is attributed to the large dispersion of the PCW. Band Solve tool is used to calculate the band structure of PCW. Finite Dif...
full textPolarization splitter based on a square-lattice photonic-crystal fiber.
A three-core polarization splitter based on a square-lattice photonic-crystal fiber is presented. The component separates the input field into two orthogonally polarized beams that are coupled to the horizontal and vertical output ports. The splitter has been designed through modal and beam propagation analysis by employing high-performance codes based on the finite-element method. Results obta...
